Bam byrd
Founder. Designer. artist.
BrianMichael “Bam” Byrd (b. 1998 in Alexandria VA) is an African American multidisciplinary artist who works across various mediums including graphic design, digital painting, photography, and sculpture. Through these diverse mediums, he seeks to explore and heal his internal struggles while also conveying a meaningful story to his audience. Bam’s upbringing in the inner city of Alexandria shapes the unique narrative that he strives to convey through his work, which is introducing others to new ideas by creating work from day-to-day life to politically charged topics. Language is a crucial aspect of his work; he uses many visual puns, entendres and many examples of street vernacular which adds to the overall experience and perception of his artwork. The use of language and puns is deeply inspired by various genres of African-American music, including jazz, R&B, and rap, all of which play a significant role in shaping Bam’s identity.
